Wilson was the first Democrat to turn against that party's adherence to real liberalism, and so lay further groundwork for tyranny (just as Harding, Hoover, FDR, Truman, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, both the Bushes and now Obama were and are only acting off of the basis of a prior foundation). Wilson's policies (and those of the Republicans before him) could not have been carried out without the foundation being laid by Lincoln, who annihilated the concept of a voluntary union.

"Be very wary of government that has a plan. It’s likely that if you think our current problems are bad, just wait until you see the solutions."

“I vote for the candidate that I believe will paralyze the government the most. The last thing we need is a fully functional government looking for something to do.”
